Training local staff is one of the main pillars of Nutrition Without Borders. In recent weeks, the staff of the CREN in Basse (The Gambia), specifically Fatho Maneh, Omar Baldeh and Omar Sowe, have received specific training on hospital treatment and primary care.

With this action we reaffirm our commitment to improving the care of children with acute malnutrition at the CREN de Basse, focusing not only on treating malnutrition, but also on strengthening local capacities that allow for sustainable and quality responses in place.

Why is this training task so important?
Because the presence of trained and motivated local staff strengthens the nutritional health system in Gambia.
Because this training contributes to children with acute malnutrition being treated with updated protocols, more effectively.
Because we are committed to a local development approach: that solutions are born and grow from the communities, with their own staff, and do not depend solely on external resources.
Because making this investment in training contributes to the sustainability of the project and its impact in the medium-long term.
