Barcelona, December 4, 2025 — Nutrition Without Borders (NWB) celebrated its 20th anniversary this Thursday with an event at the Agència de Salut Pública de Catalunya that, through a dynamic timeline, reviewed two decades of international cooperation and social action aimed at the universal right to food.
Gemma Salvador, secretary of NSF, was responsible for presenting the event and welcoming attendees.
The event was inaugurated by the deputy director general of Health Promotion Albert Moncada, who highlighted the organization's history and its sustained commitment to global health.

20 years of projects and transformation
The president of NWB, Dr. Lluís Serra Majem, began the tour by recalling the first steps of the organization in 2005 and the projects aimed at combating child malnutrition, such as the creation of the CREN in Basse in 2010. A commemorative video was shown with images of the work at the CREN throughout these years.
In the section dedicated to the evolution of the centers, Marc Caballero, a nutritionist, spoke and shared his experience in Basse and the value of continued work in the territory.

Gemma Salvador, secretary and founding member of NWB, presented the origin of the Comparteix el Menjar project, explaining how, together with Santi Ferrandiz, they detected the urgent need to provide an organized response to food waste and to transform it into an opportunity to support families and people in vulnerable situations.
Other key initiatives of the entity were also reviewed: Joy Ngo reviewed the Piecitos Colorados programs and training with migrant groups, and a video was shown on NWB's response to the pandemic. In this section, Borena Jávega presented the adaptation of the Comparteix el Menjar project during COVID-19.
Montserrat Banqué highlighted the work of volunteering and university internships in the dissemination of nutritional education.

International action and co-development
The blog dedicated to 2023 focused on the work in Senegal and co-development projects. Through audiovisual material with images from Rufisque and the testimony of the field representative Ababacar Thiakh, it was possible to share the impact of NWB initiatives in the territory.
New challenges and a look towards the future
In the part dedicated to Catalonia, Pere Salvador presented the new territorial approach of the Comparteix el Menjar project, aimed at strengthening the community response and collaboration with local agents.
For his part, Tijan Konteh, born in Gambia and founder of the Association of Young Africans in Catalonia, offered an update on the food and social situation in Gambia, providing a contextual vision of the present and the challenges in the region.

The closing speech on the future was given by the director of NWB Núria Camps, who detailed the strategic lines to strengthen alliances for sustainable food environments and the evolution of the CREN model. Finally, she presented the commemorative exhibition with illustrations by the designer Núria Burrull. This was followed by a small tasting for attendees.

The event culminated with a toast led by the president of NWB, Dr. Lluís Serra Majem, celebrating twenty years of commitment, cooperation and defense of the right to food.
We thank the Agència de Salut Pública de Catalunya for hosting the event at its headquarters, as well as all the facilities received and the support for our organization.
