In Rufisque Norte, Senegal, the Meeting “Women and Development, experiences in processing local products” took place, organized by the Réseau Droit au Développement pour d'Autres Alternatives (REDA), the Network of Transforming Women of Rufisque Norte (RFTRN) and Nutrition Without Borders. The event, which had the participation of 56 women and the presence of the mayor of Rufisque Nord, Mr. Assane Kassé, was an opportunity to debate the impact of the food crisis in Senegal.
The successful experiences in food transformation by Mrs. Bambi Soumaré of REDA in Dakar, Ms. Ndira Ndiour from RFTRN in Rufisque Norte and Ms. Ndèye Diouf from the “Unité semi industrielle” project. The director of Nutrition Without Borders, Ms. Núria Camps highlighted the work that is being done in Senegal through women's networks that promote short circuits of local production and marketing.
The congress was very well received by the participants, which was echoed by the media on local television.
