More and more universities are asking to collaborate with Nutrition Without Borders

Comunicació

Nutrition without Borders was born from a group of people linked to the research and study of nutrition and continues to have strong links with universities and schools. It is currently becoming a reference for internships and final degree and master's projects and also as a volunteer experience. In each case we have built a project. We like to highlight that they are not always nutrition and dietetics students, but that we are gradually including other studies and this helps us to grow in all areas!

Ramón Llull University - Blanquerna

Nutrition without Borders has been part of the service-learning activity programmed in the final year of the Nutrition degree. After a presentation of the entity and its two main projects, the students have created visual documents to help provide nutrition training for citizens. The centre has sent us the works that were best valued by the teaching staff so that we can use them.

Escola de Mitjans Audiovisuals Barcelona, EMAV

In the proposal of this centre, which is publicly owned, to carry out work experience in non-profit organisations, NsF sent the project “Comparteix el menjar” and we were selected. For a month, a work group of 10 students stayed with us to get to know us and they designed, recorded and edited a documentary explaining the project. A very well done job that helps us to spread the word about Comparteix.

Carlemany University

This is the second academic year that we have had Bàxelor students doing internships in Human Nutrition and Dietetics. Together with them, we have carried out community nutrition and project management tasks. Specifically, we have produced texts and informative visual material on healthy and sustainable food for the organisations to which we distribute food. It has also been important for the development of the App to computerise the data on food collection.

European University of Madrid

We have been collaborating for several years and have been able to carry out specific studies of the types of food collected, prepare an atlas of dishes to unify criteria for the classification and evaluation of the foods given. They have also carried out a review of food safety processes when receiving donations. For this course we expect two students next term.

University of Vic. Central University of Catalonia

Our relationship with this university goes back a long way and has allowed us to carry out many projects. We highlight the collection of ideas for visual resources and slide design to give talks to organisations and schools. This year we have two Portuguese students who are helping us find information resources from Brazil and Portugal, countries with experience in working against food insecurity, to enrich what we produce.

Autonomous University of Barcelona

We have received students from different disciplines and projects from this University. We have collaborated on final degree projects on food technology about bread, on the Degree in International Relations that helped us draft the MOU of Gambia and this year a Social Education student wants to do her final project with us.

Open University of Catalonia

We have collaborated on several occasions to improve the information we have and to help us draw conclusions and statistics on donations. For this course we already have a student assigned and he will work in talks at the centres for both children and adults.

University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

For many years, the organisation has been involved in the implementation of projects in Gambia, especially at the Basse and Soma CRENs, where paediatric professionals conduct internships to strengthen the capacities of local health personnel on WHO protocols for screening and treating maternal and child malnutrition, especially for rural communities.

Toulouse Business School (TBS) and La Salle / Ramon Llull University

These are two universities with degrees that may seem very far from Nutrition without Borders, such as marketing, architecture, engineering or computer science. But their learning philosophy is that students volunteer during their degree. In this case, the help is focused on the van, collecting and donating food, especially during peak periods, such as conferences and fairs.
